frequently asked questions about

what we do

Who do you work with?

We partner with artists, managers, agencies, tour and production managers, directors, event and production companies, as well as other designers and creative studios to design, produce and supply lighting and visual productions.

What kind of projects do you take on?

We’re lucky to work across a wide range of creative and live experiences. If it needs to look and feel amazing, we’re in.

Some of the projects we get involved with include:

Concerts and touring – from intimate shows to full-scale arena tours
Corporate – delivering impactful conferences, launches, and brand showcases
Sports – using lighting and visuals to amplify energy, atmosphere, and fan experience
Theatre and comedy – supporting storytelling and mood to live productions
Fashion – lighting runways and crafting immersive visual moments for brands
Exhibitions – designing and delivering bold installations and interactive spaces
Immersive experiences – building worlds that people can step into

Visitor attractions – enhancing spaces with engaging lighting and visuals

Product launches – helping brands make a bold, memorable statement

Do you offer white label services?

Yes! We’re actually behind a lot of other shows and events as a silent partner - the people behind the scenes of the people behind the scenes.

Do you own the equipment?

We sure do.  We're a little unusual as we own, operate and service lighting and video equipment which is also available to dry hire.  Find out more by visiting our production and rental page.

Do you work outside of the UK?

We sure do! We’ve worked on shows and projects across Europe, the US, and beyond.

Can you help with just part of a production?

Absolutely! We’re super flexible and can jump in at any stage—whether you need just lighting design, visuals, kit rental, or some extra hands on-site. We’re just as comfortable supporting someone else’s vision as we are leading a project from scratch.

Who do I reach out to if I want to chat about a project?

Want to chat about a project? Fill out our contact form or drop us an email at hello@wearezeal.co - it’ll go straight to a handful of our project leads who are ready to help!

frequently asked questions about

joining our team

Are you hiring at the moment?

We keep our careers page up-to-date with all opportunities.  Even if there's nothing active there, you’re always welcome to fill out the form on there. It goes straight to a real human (promise!) who reads every response. We’ll also keep you in the loop if any roles come up down the line.

Do you take on apprentices?

We do! We're super passionate about welcoming (and encouraging!) the next generation of talent into the industry. We take on two apprentices each year. We’ve just welcomed two new faces to the team, so the next opportunity will be next year. Keep an eye out or register your interest using the form on our careers page!

Can I do an internship with you?

We’ve just launched our internship programme (and we're very proud of it!). We’ve got two amazing interns joining us for the summer, but don’t worry, there will be more chances to get involved in the future. Keep your eyes peeled or register your interest using the form on our careers page

Do you offer work experience placements?

Yes! Getting new talent into the industry is something we really care about, and that starts with offering work experience. These opportunities are open to anyone interested in the industry and eager to learn. We don’t always have spots available, but you can fill out our form on our careers page to register your interest - we’ll be in touch if something comes up.

What skills or qualifications do you look for?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer - we’re more interested in who you are and what you bring to the table than ticking every box on paper. That said, some things we do look for include:

  • A genuine passion for lighting, visuals, and live experiences
  • A good work ethic and a willingness to get stuck in
  • Technical understanding (or the hunger to learn!)
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
  • Experience working in a team, especially under pressure
  • Imagination, curiosity, and a sharp eye for detail

Formal qualifications can help, but they’re not everything - real-world experience, attitude, and a desire to grow go a long way.

How do I get into the industry?

There are many ways in, and no two journeys look the same - but here are some solid starting points:

  • Get hands-on experience wherever you can - volunteer, shadow crews, or look for work experience placements (we offer them when we can!)
  • Learn the basics - online tutorials, short courses, or college programmes can give you a great foundation in lighting, video, and production tech
  • Start building connections - follow people and companies you admire, reach out, ask questions, and show up to events
  • Be curious and proactive - ask to help, learn by doing, and show your enthusiasm
  • Stay open to different roles - you might start on the floor or in the warehouse and work your way up

Most of us started small, said yes to opportunities, and figured it out along the way. If you’re passionate and willing to learn, you’re already on the right track.

I’d love to work with you - how can I make that happen?

Honestly, we’re flattered! It means a lot that so many people want to be part of our (slightly chaotic but very fun) team. The best way to stay in the loop is to fill out the form on our careers page and sign up for our mailing list. You’ll be the first to know when something opens up. And don’t forget to follow us on socials for updates too!

Are you looking for freelancers?

Always! If you’re passionate, experienced, and love what you do, we want to hear from you. Fill out our freelancer form to join our database, and we’ll be in touch if anything suitable comes up.
