We are Zeal
We’re on a mission to become the most trusted lighting and visual production partner. And you could be too.
A bit about us
From the outside, Zeal is known for world-class lighting and visual production. Inside, we’re known for how we work.
We design and deliver live shows and events from under one roof – partnering with artists, creatives, producers, agencies, venues, and teams who care about both ambition and execution.
Our services include production design, lighting design, programming, visual art, technical production, and equipment rental, specialising in lighting solutions.
The result is work that’s imaginative, meticulous, and thoughtfully delivered.
We’re curious by nature, collaborative by default, and serious about our craft – but never at the expense of trust, authenticity, or people feeling supported to do their best work.
The quality of what we produce matters. But how it’s made, and who it’s made with, matters just as much.
Why this role exists
We’re growing, both in the size and number of projects. Before we take more on, it matters to us deeply that we retain the high standards of imaginative show design and execution that we’re known for.
To support that, the next essential hire for our creative team is another lighting programmer and/or designer.
What you’ll be doing
This will vary depending on the final candidate’s skillset and ambition – where you sit within our existing creative department and whether you lean more towards design or programming. Examples include:
- Timecoding complete shows and productions
- Preparing showfile handover notes to touring operators
- Operating some live shows
- Attending production rehearsals and one-off projects
- Opportunity to tour on selected shows or runs
- Drawing, rendering, and pitching designs
- Collaborating closely with our creative and projects team to take projects from concept to completion
What we’re looking for
You’ll probably be great at this if you…
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
- Share some, if not all, of our core values – particularly a passion for music and lighting
- Enjoy working as part of a team, and giving and receiving feedback
Must haves…
- Specific industry experience involving live shows and/or touring
- Experience with CAD software and 3D modelling
- Experience with Previsualisation software
- Knowledge of GrandMA3
Bonus points if…
- That CAD and modelling software experience includes Vectorworks, Depence, Cinema 4D, or Blender
- Experience with music and an understanding of playback systems, including timecode

We look out for each other.
We are calm under pressure.

Position, salary, and location
This is a full-time, permanent position. We believe in creating an environment that makes people want to work in our offices in Basingstoke every day, but flexible and hybrid working is available.
Salary: Competitive salary DOE plus benefits (including private healthcare)
Hours can vary based on workloads, and we take a pragmatic approach depending on what projects are being developed or delivered.
